The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) in co-operation with the Ministry of Social Development and Family and Qatar Fencing Federation (QFF) held a community event, Fencing Festival for community categories and guests of Qatar from Palestine at the QFF training hall at Maamoura area on Wednesday.
The one-day festival brought together a number of amateurs, game lovers, Qatar community members, alongside 20 participants from Qatar’s guests from state of Palestine. They all enjoyed the festival in atmosphere full of sportsmanship and social connection.
Under the supervision of well-trained coaches, the participants from different age groups exhibited promising skills in fencing weapons, Epee, Foil and Sabr. They knew about rules of the game, technical skills, and were looking forward to get more experience in this sport.
The QOC aims through organizing this event to promote “ sport for all” concept, to increase communication between Qatari community categories and residents, as embodiment of its vision: “ To Become a Leading Nation in Bringing The World Together Through Sustainable Sport Development“.
In a post-event statement, the Event Director, Abdulla Eisa al-Harami said sports has become an effective tool in achieving sustainable development, promoting peace, inscribing the spirit of tolerance, ensuring mutual respect for all.
“Doha has proven to be the capital of global sport, and it will keep performing its centre stage role to bring nations together through sport, as well as to encourage community categories to develop their sport skills” added al-Harami.
