The Centre for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) and Qatar Museums (QM) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance co-operation in organising community programmes and initiatives for the elderly.
A statement from Ehsan explained that the agreement is based on the centre’s main role towards enhancing recognition of the role of the elderly and their contributions to social, economic and cultural development while empowering them and supporting their active participation in all fields.
The MoU also aims to spread community awareness of their rights and basic issues, work to achieve communication between generations and emphasise the role of the family in their care.
Ehsan executive director Manal Ahmed al-Mannai and QM chief executive Mohamed Saad al-Rumaihi were the signatories.
Al-Mannai noted that the agreement comes in recognition by both parties of the importance of strengthening the bonds of co-operation.
“This is to achieve the common goals of supporting the elderly group in the best possible ways, to continue the process of development and modernisation in this field and to provide them with all necessary means of empowerment and care,” al-Mannai said.
“We are pleased to co-operate with Ehsan to enhance the role of the elderly and their contributions to our society,” al-Rumaihi said. “The QM is committed to including all members of society in its activities and programmes and enriching them culturally to achieve communication between generations and to confirm the role of the family in their care.”
As per the agreement, Ehsan’s members will benefit from the QM’s various facilities and their products exhibited to promote and market them.
