Highlighting more than three centuries of deep-rooted ties, the Embassy of Kuwait in Doha celebrated the country’s 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day yesterday, underscoring the strength of Qatari-Kuwaiti relations. The reception, held at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, was hosted by Kuwaiti charge d’affaires Fahad al-Zoubi, who lauded the strong and well-established brotherly ties between the two nations. While official diplomatic relations were established in 1971, he noted that relations between the peoples of the two nations date back more than 300 years. **media[416080]** The event was attended by a number of dignitaries and senior officials from Qatar and Kuwait, as well as ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the country. Among those present were HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Attiya, HE the Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulla bin Mohamed al-Thani, HE the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem al-Ghanem, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani; and other officials and dignitaries. **media[416079]** Al-Zoubi stressed that the strong bilateral relations between Qatar and Kuwait were laid by their forefathers, paving the way for current generations to enjoy such exceptional ties. He highlighted the two nations’ shared traditions, heritage, and long-standing social connections, including intermarriage and extended family ties . These solid foundations, he said, have further strengthened diplomatic and political co-operation between the leaderships of both countries. Trade and business relations continue to grow, with bilateral trade reaching $1.4bn as of February last year. He stressed that Kuwait has consistently promoted peace and stability in the region and beyond, noting that both Qatar and Kuwait adhere to the principle of peaceful dispute resolution to safeguard regional and international stability. In this context, the charge d’affaires expressed gratitude to Qatar and other countries that stood by Kuwait during its liberation, describing the Qatari people as generous and noble, always extending support and solidarity to their Kuwaiti brothers. In 2014, Kuwait was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as a Humanitarian Centre in recognition of its efforts to advance peace and humanitarian causes. Al-Zoubi noted that Qatar and Kuwait share this humanitarian vision and a commitment to stability and peaceful coexistence among nations.  He added that the two countries have recently signed several co-operation agreements across various sectors to further strengthen their relations, and wished both nations continued prosperity, stability and progress.
