HE the Attorney General of Qatar has referred eight defendants including a public employee who works as a department director at the Public Works Authority (Ashgal) to the competent criminal court to punish them according to the crimes attributed to them.
The Public Prosecution concluded the investigations with the defendants after they had been arrested on charges of bribery, voluntary damage to the public money, exploitation of public job, and money laundering.
The investigation has proven that the first defendant, Qatari national working as department manager at Ashghal, had demanded and accepted sums of money and privileges in exchange of undermining the integrity and straightforwardness of the tenders and bids related to his work for the benefit of the other defendants, who represented the companies that has contracts with his work.
The other defendants include five Egyptians, an Iraqi and a Pakistani. In turn, they offered the first defendant such money and privileges as a bribe. They also hid and camouflaged the true nature of such money outcome of the crimes committed
