The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened heavy fire on a UN convoy that was heading to Gaza City yesterday.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a post on X that an agency vehicle was hit by at least five bullets while it was waiting in front of an Israeli military checkpoint in the central Gaza Strip.

"This happened yesterday and the teams were traveling in an armored vehicle with clearly marked UN markings and wearing UN vests," Lazzarini added.

He affirmed that the IOF opened heavy fire on the convoy that was heading to Gaza City on Sunday.
