The Egyptian national handball team triumphed over Hungary with a score of 35-32 in their first match of Group B at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Saturday.
Egypt imposed its dominance early on, securing a 19-15 lead by the end of the first half and maintaining their advantage through to the final whistle, earning their first two points in the tournament.
In the same group, Norway claimed a 36-31 victory over Argentina, climbing to the top of the group standings with two points, ahead of Egypt on goal difference. The final standings of the group will be further determined by the result of the Denmark vs. France match, scheduled to take place later today.
In Group A, Germany secured a 30-27 win against Sweden after a closely contested match. The first half ended with Germany leading by one goal, 12-11, but they managed to extend their lead in the second half to claim their first win, putting them at the top of the group standings on goal difference over Spain. Spain also emerged victorious, defeating Slovenia 25-22, overcoming an 8-11 deficit at halftime to secure their first two points.
Additionally, Croatia edged out Japan in a thrilling encounter, winning 30-29. The Japanese team led 18-13 at halftime, but Croatia made a strong comeback in the second half, securing their first two points and keeping their hopes alive for advancing to the next round.
