The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus today called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the protection of civilians, health workers and health facilities.

In a post on X, Ghebreyesus expressed deep worry for the safety of civilians and patients in Deir Al Balah, following the latest reports of airstrikes in areas where many displaced people were sheltering.

The health authorities in Gaza announced that the number of victims of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, has risen to 39,258 martyrs, in addition to 90,589 injured.
