Qatari students (11th grade) who are studying the Japanese language as an optional subject, are attending the Japanese Language and Culture Summer Camp 2024, being held at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Tsukuba University in Japan.
The camp primarily intends to help students practice the Japanese language, internalise the Japanese culture as well as to engage in wide-ranging activities of the summer programme. This is to further promote their character as well as to increase their awareness of the opportunities available for them to enrol in higher education institutions in Japan, culminating in career chances for them in the future.
The camp’s study programme meets the students’ needs for Japanese and English languages and is held as part of executing the expansion project in teaching foreign languages for public school students.
Additionally, the programme comprises 60-hour extensive lessons and online lectures, cultural exchange through practising the language with students of Japanese schools, engaging with supervisors as well as organising field, cultural and scientific trips.
The participating students numbering 10, affirmed that they are glad to participate in the camp and to benefit from its diverse activities to refine their linguistic skills, along with the huge opportunities for self-reliance, in addition to learning and respecting foreign cultures, values and devotion to work.
