Doha Municipality is keen to expand green areas within its jurisdiction for the benefit residents, director Mansur Ajran al-Buainain told local Arabic daily Arrayah.
He stressed that the municipality would not spare any effort to use any plot of land available at any location within its limits to convert into a public park that would serve all.
For instance, a vacant plot of land at Dafna Area 67, which was used for unregulated parking, eventually got converted into a public park called “Istidama” (sustainability). This park was created with the available capabilities of the municipality at the lowest possible cost on a space of 2,300sq m.
Al-Buainain pointed out that the municipality currently has 57 sites of public parks, gardens and green areas in different parts of the city, and equipped with all the necessary public services and facilities for the convenience of the visitors.
He noted that the health control section is considered one of the main control entities within the municipality, as it supervises more than 10,000 food outlets and establishments through highly qualified health inspectors. They also constantly carry out morning and evening inspection campaigns on these places, making sure to raise the awareness of the workers there on the necessary conditions to maintain food health and safety.
Al-Buainain stressed that under the Ministerial Decision No 123 for 2024, reducing the rental of the ministry’s industrial zone would certainly reflect positively on enhancing the national economy and the role of the private sector in diversifying the economy of the country, giving investors more incentives to expand and grow their businesses.
