Turkiye condemned Wednesday the assassination of the political bureau chief of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, in the Iranian capital Tehran.
"Haniyeh's assassination once again demonstrates that the Israeli government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no intention of achieving peace", the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
This attack aims to expand the scope of the war in Gaza to a regional level, and if the international community does not act to stop Israel, the region will face much greater conflicts, the Ministry added.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced earlier this morning that its political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran.
In a statement on its website, Hamas said that its leader "was killed in a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran after participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president".
