English club Chelsea announced Wednesday the signing of Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Spanish club Villarreal for the first football team on a contract extending to 7 seasons.

The club said in a statement that Jorgensen became Chelsea's eighth signing this summer, and will join his new teammates during the team's tour of the United States of America,. The keeper will fit into the system of new coach Enzo Maresca.

The 22-year-old Danish goalkeeper will be part of the strategy that will strengthen the team's position next season, after it finished last season in sixth place in the English Premier League table with (63) points.
Jorgensen played alongside Villarreal in 37 matches in all competitions last season, and contributed to the team occupying eighth place in the Spanish League.

Chelsea announced last June the appointment of Enzo Maresca as the team's technical director for a period of five years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, succeeding coach Mauricio Pochettino.
