The White House condemned the "unacceptable" attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers that occurred in a village in the occupied West Bank, which resulted in one death and one injury.

In a statement, the National Security Council said that the attacks by violent settlers against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank are unacceptable and must stop.

The Israeli authorities must take measures to protect all communities from harm, this includes intervening to stop such violence, and holding all perpetrators of such violence to account, the statement added.

The Palestinian health ministry said a 23-year-old man was martyred and another suffered critical gunshot wounds to the chest in the attack mounted by settlers on the village of Jit, east of Qalqilya in the West Bank on Thursday.

According to reports, dozens of Israeli settlers stormed into Jit and set fire to vehicles and structures in the area, and hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails.
