The construction of Al Waab Hospital for Dialysis and Diabetes is progressing well, with the basement, ground floor, first, and second floors completed, local Arabic daily 'Arrayah' reported. The hospital is being built through a contribution from Sons of Mohamed Hamad Al Mana Real Estate Company for Charitable Works and managed by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

The new hospital, expected to be completed next year, will include outpatient clinics, 78 dialysis treatment units, three peritoneal dialysis units, two dialysis units for VIPs, separate rooms for dialysis, four care clinics for patients with advanced kidney disease, as well as clinics dedicated to general nephrology, ophthalmology, cardiology, home dialysis, podiatry, rehabilitation, and physical therapy.

The hospital will also have a special diabetes treatment section, which includes eight units equipped with special equipment for diabetes patients, an IV (intravenous line) therapy clinic, three evaluation units, three treatment units, and two rooms for consultations with nutrition specialists.

Further, there will be clinics for injection therapy, an entrance to the emergency department on the ground floor, and some other services such as a café, offices, a hall for seminars and conferences, a pharmacy, a courtyard, reception and waiting areas, a day activity room, two prayer rooms, and parking lots.

The new hospital will accommodate dialysis treatment for 88 patients simultaneously, with separate treatment rooms available for those who want more privacy. It is expected to provide services to patients who need regular dialysis, many of whom suffer from diabetes. The hospital will offer patients medical consultation, treatment, clinical support, and other support services.

The three-storey building has a contemporary design that reflects the Qatari heritage and the architectural development seen all over the country. The design considers sustainability requirements, including environment-friendly architectural techniques and the application of sustainability principles in planning for the comfort of patients, staff, and visitors, alongside waste management to create a harmonious community.

After the completion of the hospital's construction, the operational teams from HMC will furnish it with the necessary specialised equipment, furniture and modern healthcare system requirements. The team will further recruit an adequate number of highly qualified specialists to provide high-quality healthcare services, specifically designed to meet the needs of kidney and diabetes patients.
