Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar has invited the public across Qatar to attend the upcoming Tasweer Dialogues hosted on the international World Photography Day event tomorrow from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at Fire Station: Artist in Residence.

The event will feature a Photography Talk by Tasweer Project Award Alumni and celebrated Qatari artist Mashael al-Hejazi in Arabic, as well as the announcement of the 2024 Tasweer Award winners. In a press statement, Tasweer director Khalifa Ahmad al-Obaidli said: “This event provides a platform to engage with the exceptional work of our artists and allows us to recognise and announce the winners of the 2024 Tasweer Awards. We look forward to showcasing the creativity and passion of our photographers, fostering their personal and professional growth, and further establishing Tasweer as a significant hub of creativity within the region".

Tasweer Dialogues is a monthly series that provides a platform for in-depth discussions, talks, events, spotlight photographers, master classes and much more focusing on the art of photography and providing a space in which for the community to grow and build together.

Each session features distinguished photographers, visual artists, and practitioners who share their unique experiences and insights. These dialogues cover a wide range of get-togethers, including image creation, photo projects, exhibitions, publishing, and careers in photography.

Al-Hejazi, who discovered her passion for art and photography early in life, is known for her innovative approach and dedication to authenticity in the digital era. Her work reflects a deep engagement with photography, painting, and colour, as well as a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

During her residency at the Fire Station in Doha from 2019-2020, al-Hejazi presented a solo exhibition titled 'My Mother Lulwah's House' at Barahat Al Jufairi Majlis. Her project 'Tawtheeq' explores the evolving people and architecture of old Doha, capturing the city's rapid transformation. Al-Hejazi employs traditional photographic processes, such as 19th-century Cyanotype and Gum Bichromate printing, to bring a unique perspective to her work.

Following the Photography Talk, the event will feature the announcement of the winners of the 2024 Tasweer Awards, which honour exceptional contributions in two categories: the Tasweer Project Award and the Tasweer Single Image Award. Tasweer aims to celebrate and support the diverse talents of photographers residing in Western Asia and North Africa, providing them with a platform to showcase their work and engage with a global audience.
