US Vice President Kamala Harris has formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president.

"I will be a president who unites us around our highest aspirations," Harris said during her speech on the final night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Illinois, , vowing to be a "president of all Americans."

She noted that the November presidential elections are "one of the most important in the life of our nation."

On Gaza war, Harris stressed the need end the war in Gaza Strip, saying that the time has come to reach a ceasefire and a hostages deal.

If successful, Harris stands to make history as the first woman elected US president. Her acceptance of the Democratic Party's presidential nomination comes just one month after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race.
