UNRWA and Qatar Charity (QC) signed an agreement for $3mn to help deliver lifesaving assistance for people in need in Gaza. The aid will include food, emergency shelter and healthcare services, a QC statement said. In addition to the financial contribution, QC will donate 6,500 food parcels for families in Gaza.

Speaking at the signing ceremony at an UNRWA warehouse in Amman, QC CEO Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, underscored the importance of supporting the Palestinian people during this critical time.

“At Qatar Charity, our commitment to alleviating the suffering of vulnerable people in Gaza remains unwavering. This partnership with UNRWA represents another step in providing immediate relief and delivering essential aid to those in need,” he said.

“Humanitarian actors are facing severe limitations and delays that hinder much needed aid delivery for Gaza, highlighting the necessity for increased humanitarian access. Humanitarian efforts, however, cannot replace the urgency for a ceasefire to end the unprecedented suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip,” al-Kuwari added.

UNRWA chief of staff Ben Majekodunmi, expressed his gratitude for QC’s generous support. “UNRWA is the backbone of the humanitarian operation in Gaza, and our incredible staff are working tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of the population there," he said.

"We are grateful for Qatar Charity’s support, which is critical to provide much needed humanitarian assistance, including food, shelter and healthcare in Gaza, especially in the run up to the polio vaccination campaign. We commend Qatar Charity for being a reliable partner of the UN family, supporting UN humanitarian operations in different locations worldwide.”
