Qatar’s Khalil bin Ahmed al-Mohannadi has won the presidency of the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) by acclamation for the second time in a row to continue leading the continental union during the new electoral cycle 2024-2028.
As the nomination period for the elections closed on August 23, al-Mohannadi secured the position of president, thus ensuring his win of the presidency seat.
The general assembly of the ATTU will take place in Kazakhstan on October 12 on the sidelines of the Asian Table Tennis Championship, which will be held from October 7-13. The general assembly will officially announce al-Mohannadi president for the next four years (2024-28), while vice-presidents and regional representatives will also be selected and members of the board of directors and various committees will be elected.
Al-Mohannadi assumed the presidency of the ATTU for the first time in October 2021 during the ATTU’s general assembly in Doha on the sidelines of the Asian men’s and women’s championships that were held at Lusail International Sports Hall.
Al-Mohannadi is the first Arab and Qatari to assume the presidency of the ATTU since its inception in 1972 and the sixth president of the ATTU throughout its history.
