Ali Ghanem al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar, and West Asian Volleyball Federations, retained his position as Executive Vice-President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), and won membership of the International Volleyball Federation after the elections held during the 25th General Assembly of AVC.

The elections, which took place in the Thai capital, resulted in victory of Ramon Suzara of the Philippines, as president of the AVC, during the vote in which 63 Asian federations out of 65 participated.

Only two AVC federations were absent from attendance.

During the AVC General Assembly, it was announced that Princess Ayah Bint Faisa, President of the Jordanian Volleyball Federation, is set join the Board of Directors of the Asian and International Volleyball Federations after winning membership for West Asia region.

Engineer Ibrahim al-Muqbali, Chairman of the Oman Volleyball Federation, was also appointed as a member of AVC Board of Directors and was approved as a first reserve for membership in the International Volleyball Federation.
