The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has concluded a training course for Russian preachers, held from July 28 to August 26.

The course, according to a statement from Awqaf, was held to introduce Islam and teach the Arabic language.

There were lessons, lectures and workshops that aimed to provide an integrated programme including linguistic, legal and preaching aspects.

Fanar held a ceremony at the end of the course to honour the participants.

During the closing ceremony, Sheikh Dr Rushan Abbasov, the deputy chairman of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Muftis Shura Council of Russia, delivered a speech via video conference.

He praised Qatar’s efforts, its leadership, and its outstanding civilisational and developmental achievements.

He appreciated Awqaf for hosting the delegation of the federation in Qatar with warmth and generosity.

Fanar director Dr Saleh Ali al-Akhn al-Marri said the course comes within the framework of achieving the vision and mission of Awqaf.

Fanar, through this course, hosted the preachers to enhance their capabilities in the fields of introducing Islam, spreading Islamic culture, teaching the Holy Qur’an and promoting the Arabic language.
