Doha hosted on Monday the 10th preparatory meeting of the Undersecretaries' Committee of the GCC Ministries of Social Development Affairs. The 10th meeting of the Committee of GCC Ministers of Social Development Affairs is due to be held tomorrow, under Qatar's chairmanship.

Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs, Fahd bin Mohamed al-Khayarin chaired the preparatory meeting, which was also attended by GCC Assistant Secretary of Economic and Development Affairs, Khalid bin Ali bin Salim al-Sunaidi.

Addressing the meeting, al-Khayarin said the meeting was being held amid social and economic developments that prompt intensified efforts and unified visions to confront the challenges, highlighting the significance of previous meetings in continuing GCC co-ordination to boost social stability and sustainable development. The agenda included main axes aimed at enhancing social integration in the GCC, primarily the social development strategy and the joint Gulf action strategy 2024-2030, he added.

He added that the meeting highlighted the 7th Gulf Theatre Festival for People with Disabilities, as an important event to showcase the people with disabilities' creative potential, integrate them into society, and offer them equal opportunities. He added the meeting would discuss the third report on the prospects for implementing the rights of people with disabilities in the GCC countries.

Al-Khayarin thanked Oman for its fruitful ministerial meetings presidency the previous year, leading to remarkable progress in the intra-GCC social co-operation. Meanwhile, al-Sunaidi extended his thanks to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who chairs the current GCC Supreme Council session, for Qatar's hosting of this meeting, and for His Highness's unrelenting support for the GCC joint work.

He added that the agenda included the discussion of the GCC Strategy for Joint Charitable and Humanitarian Work (2025-2030), the GCC Strategy for Joint Gulf Work for Women's Affairs (2025-2030), and other joint social work activities.
