As the new academic year begins, Qatar Charity (QC) has launched the ‘Baraem’ programme, designed to support children unable to join kindergarten. The focus is on their psychological, academic, and behavioural development to prepare them for formal education in the upcoming school year.
The programme, which targets 300 children aged 4-6 years, primarily focuses on instilling values, teaching the alphabet, and improving their skills in various fields, applying certain manners and behaviours. It also aims to improve children’s reading and writing habits.
QC’s community development centres in Al Khor and Al Rayyan, along with its social development centre for expatriate communities, are continuing to implement the four-month-long ‘Baraem’ programme.
Abdulrahman Mohammad al-Hajri, director of the Programmes and Community Development Department, stated that 'Baraem' is part of QC’s efforts to provide a supportive educational environment for children unable to attend kindergarten. By utilising a structured curriculum, the programme aids students in reading both Arabic and English letters, while also teaching them other subjects.
He explained that the programme has been running for 10 years, receiving substantial attention from parents, and graduating hundreds of children annually. He also emphasised the role of a dedicated team of qualified and experienced teachers skilled in working with children and providing them with a necessary educational foundation.
QC, under the slogan ‘Prioritising their Education’, has also launched a campaign to support educational projects in 25 countries. The campaign aims to provide school uniforms, cover tuition fees, build and furnish schools, as well as offer scholarships, and sponsor students.
