The Ministry of Municipality will be implementing intensive seasonal maintenance for the green areas at the public parks and gardens across Qatar from September 15 to October 15, to prepare them to receive visitors during winter.

The ministry explained through a post on its X account that such maintenance works could lead to temporary yellowing of the grass, which is perfectly natural and will go away gradually until the plants regain full vigour.

There were 113 public parks, squares, and corniches in 2019 across the country, compared to 144 parks in 2023, a 27% increase in four years. The ministry is planning to open 15 new parks this year. Some have already been opened during the first half.

There has been a considerable expansion of green spaces across the country, reaching 43sq km, through joint projects between the ministry and other government entities.

The Ministry of Municipality is keen to enhance the concept of recycling and sustainability while expanding the green areas and parks, as the use of treated water for irrigating green spaces, which was only 36% in 2019, increased 75% in 2023, with a growth rate of 39%.

In 2023, the number of locally produced seedlings of various plants amounted to 2,100,823 with most of these distributed and planted at various gardens and parks.

In particular, Doha has been distinguished with its unique parks distributed across its various geographical places, giving the residents easy access. These parks are equipped with all the necessary facilities and amenities.
