Doha Bank has announced its role as the Gold Sponsor of the Union of Arab Banks’ (UAB) ‘Arab Banking Conference 2024’, which will run until September 11 at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.

Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud al-Thani, Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, the conference will bring together top economic and financial leaders from across the Arab world, along with representatives from Arab banks and financial institutions.

The existing financing gap required to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region remains a critical concern, where assets exceed $4tn. The conference will address this issue, explore the challenges, and discuss financial strategies to bridge the gap.

Arab financial institutions play a pivotal role in achieving sustainability, and the conference aims to promote increased lending towards projects aligned with the SDGs.

Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal al-Thani, Doha Bank Group CEO, stated: “Doha Bank is honoured to participate in this esteemed conference, which is instrumental in shaping sustainability efforts within the Arab region’s asset development. We look forward to working with other top Arab banks to co-create solutions that meet the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN for our region.”

Doha Bank has consistently been at the forefront of numerous sustainability initiatives, including its partnership with Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, the Carbon Calculator, and the Qatar Sustainable Cards Pledge. The bank’s significant involvement in the Arab Banking Conference further underscores its unwavering commitment to sustainability.
