His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is chairing Qatar's delegation participating in the meetings of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), which will be held at the UN headquarters in New York, the US of America.

His Highness the Amir will deliver a speech at the opening session of the General Assembly on September 24.

The United Nations (UN) is the most representative international organisation in the world, with 193 member states since its founding in 1945 after the end of World War II. Its main goal was preventing the recurrence of war, promoting international peace and security and sustainable development, protecting human rights, upholding international law and providing humanitarian assistance.

His Highness the Amir's commitment to attending the annual sessions of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) emphasises Qatar's dedication to its international responsibilities and the positive image of Qatar and its people, as well as its civilizational and humanitarian role regarding various global issues and challenges as well as towards friendly and brotherly peoples.
