MES reigns supreme in inter-school Hindi competition
Claims overall championship in Chetana-2024

MES Indian School won the overall championship in Chetana-2024, an inter-school Hindi competition held as part of the Hindi Day celebrations.The contests were in show and talk for the junior, mono act for Intermediate and essay writing for the senior category.A total of 47 students from 18 Indian schools in Qatar took part. The jury comprised author and poet Dr Meenu Parasar Mansi, writer and Indian Women’s Association joint general secretary Chandra Joshi Gururani, and North Indian Association vice-president Monica Modi.The other winners were from Al Khor International School (Akis), DPS Modern Indian School (DPS MIS), Ideal Indian School (IIS), Noble International School (NIS) and Birla Public School (BPS).The winners, in the order of first, second and third places, respectively: Show and talk – Shreya Harish Kumar (MES), Saathvik Agrahari (Akis), Shrestha Sameer Dorne (DPS MIS). Mono act – Samridhi Panwar (IIS), Mythili Menon (MES), Rumaisa Amin (NIS). Essay writing – Shamita Adiga (BPS), Aayan Hasan (MES), Saisha Varma (DPS MIS).The felicitation ceremony had MES principal Dr Hameeda Kadar as the chief guest. The guest of honour, Indian embassy first secretary Sachin Dinkar Shankpal stressed the far-reaching influence of Hindi language, especially among Indian expatriates globally.Dr Kadar emphasised the importance of learning Hindi as it helps to maintain national integration and promotes the feeling of oneness and harmony among Indians despite social and cultural differences. Department of Hindi’s co-ordinator Rajendran S spoke.Shankpal, judges and the principal honoured the winners with merit certificates and trophies. MES’ Hindi magazine Sphoorthi-2024 was released on the occasion.Renuka G, co-ordinator, Department of Hindi, Girls’ section, welcomed the gathering. The school choir presented a song, followed by a dance performance by Agrata.Shivam Bhadra from Class IX D proposed a vote of thanks. Sibi John and Nasreena introduced the programme.
