The five-year-old, Andromede landed the Group 3 Prix Bertrand de Tarragon at Chantilly on Saturday. Owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani, the homebred mare is trained by Francis-Henri Graffard.
Ridden by Christophe Soumillon, Andromede raced wide in midfield in a strong run affair led by Sea The Lady. Once in the final straight, the consistent mare gradually closed into the lead to win by a head. Mountain Song, who was a bit unlucky in-running finished strongly in second. Rose Jaipur was a close third.
Wathnan Racing’s Electrolyte bounces back in Group 3 Prix Eclipse
Two-year-old Electrolyte claimed his first Group victory when landing the Group 3 Prix Eclipse at Chantilly in France on Saturday. Electrolyte was sporting the silk of Wathnan Racing and is trained by the Lambourn-based trainer Archie Watson.
In a strong-paced race, Electrolyte led on the near side. As they entered in the final 400m, Electrolyte went a few lengths clear and showed great determination to hold on the strong late challenge of Polyvega by a nose. The well-fancied Fraise Des Bois went third.
