Qatar Youth Hostels (QYH) celebrated the International Day of Peace and the International Day of Sign Language, on this occasion Abdullah Saeed, Head of Public Relations and Communications, said: “We at QYH pay great attention to international days, especially those that send important messages to the world. Including our celebration of the International Day of Peace, which was launched by the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF) and which we celebrate on September 21 of each year with a new and different theme.
"This year, we celebrated the importance of "promoting a culture of peace", as members of the QYH participated by filming a video expressing their opinions and message by sending an invitation to everyone to work together to build safe and stable societies in which human rights are respected and the dignity of individuals is preserved.
"Peace begins from within each individual, and is reflected in their daily actions and interactions with others.”
The Head of Public Relations and Communications added: “In addition, our celebration of the International Day of Sign Language is no less important than other international days, as the deaf category in society is large and possesses many talents and has an effective and important role in society. Therefore, in co-operation with the Qatari Cultural Center for the Deaf, we celebrated this day by organising a workshop titled “Sign Language” in order to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of possessing sign language skills to know how to deal and engage in work with this category in society.”
