The Mada Assistive Technology Centre of the Ministry of Social Development and Family has launched the third edition of the quarterly event "Nafath Majlis”.
The event aims to promote digital inclusion through assistive technology.
This event coincided with the International Week of Deaf People under the title "Sign Language Processing", sponsored by the Community College of Qatar, and the Qatar Manpower Solutions Company (Jusour), with the participation of a number of Arab experts specialising in the field of access and assistive technology.
The third edition of the Nafath Majlis focused on recent innovations in the field of automated sign language processing using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and information technology applications that contribute to enabling people with hearing disabilities to communicate more effectively with digital communities.
In his speech on the occasion, the head of the Community College’s Technology Department, Dr Abdullah al-Ghashami emphasised that individuals with disabilities represent a significant segment of society.
He stressed the importance of providing them with assistive technology, especially in our rapidly advancing technological age, noting that such technology is vital for daily life.
The Qatari Manpower Solutions Company stated that "we are proud and honoured at Jusour to be part of the success of this special day with the Mada Centre. The ‘Sahem’ programme, provided by Jusour, provides job opportunities for people with disabilities in the private sector, and enables them to contribute to society." – QNA
