The competitions of Universities Rapid Chess Tournament for the sport season 2024-2025, organised by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) in collaboration with Qatar Chess Association (QCA) from 3rd to 6th of October at the Qatar Foundation (male students) and Community College arena (female students) successfully concluded on Sunday.
In the male final, Omar Abu Arrous from Qatar University claimed the first place, Mohand El Hussain (Doha University of Science and Technology) occupied the runner-up place, while the third place went to Mohammed Melath.
In the female final, Sara Mozaffari (QU) got better to win the first place, Sananur Kartal from (QU) took the second place and Victoria Honoridez ( UDST) finished in the third place.
At the awards ceremony, Dr Khalid al-Horr, President of the Community College of Qatar, Rashid Saeed Adiba, Secretary-General of the QCSF, and Hamad al-Tamimi, Vice-President of the Qatar Chess Association, honoured the top winners in both categories.
Notably, chess, e-sports, cross-country running, and swimming are among the latest tournaments added to the QCSF’s 2024-2025 season calendar.
In a post-event statement, Rashid Saeed Adiba, Secretary-General of the QCSF, noted that chess is a sport that will help develop students’ cognitive and mental abilities, aligning with the QCSF’s slogan, “Sport Inspires Education”.
