Thailand’s progress in developing digital infrastructure and the application of artificial intelligence was showcased at the recent 2nd Asia Co-operation Dialogue (ACD) Business Forum in Doha.
Thailand’s Minister of Commerce Pichai Naripthaphan, who was in Doha for the event, focused on topics about artificial intelligence (AI) and new business models during this keynote speech at the event, a statement from the embassy said.
The statement said that Naripthaphan’s visit to Doha, along with his delegation, further strengthened bilateral relations between Qatar and Thailand, especially in the areas of trade co-operation and support for Thai entrepreneurs in Qatar.
It also laid the groundwork for long-term collaboration between the two countries.
The embassy noted that it will continue to build on these initiatives, working closely with Thailand’s team of agencies to promote Thailand’s interests and explore new economic opportunities for Thai businesses in Qatar.
Naripthaphan was accompanied by Thailand’s ambassador to Qatar Sira Swangsilpa and other embassy officials.
The Thai delegation included Trirong Wan-ar-ree, the minister counsellor for commercial affairs at the Office of Commercial Affairs, Tehran, covering Qatar.
Naripthaphan engaged in various activities aimed at strengthening trade co-operation and supporting Thai businesses in the country.
One key focus was on food security, highlighting Thailand’s potential as a significant producer and exporter of food to the region.
The minister recognised Thailand's capacity to serve as a strategic food storage hub for Qatar and other neighbouring countries.
Naripthaphan and the Thai delegation visited LuLu Hypermarket's D-Ring Branch, inaugurating a Thai product booth featuring popular Thai goods in Qatar, including fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, beverages, snacks, seasonings, cosmetics, and kitchenware.
The minister extended an invitation to senior executives of LuLu Hypermarket to visit Thailand and participate in food exhibitions to source quality products in the future.
Naripthaphan also presented the Thai Select Award to Thai restaurants in Qatar that have demonstrated excellence in Thai cuisine.
He also met with the restaurant operators to discuss the importance of maintaining quality standards and promoting Thai cuisine abroad, the statement added.
