The initiative aims to promote humanitarian values and behaviours, encouraging both school students and staff to actively participate in charitable efforts. Through competitions in fundraising, raising awareness of humanitarian issues, and emphasising the importance of social responsibility, the initiative engages participants through innovative and interactive activities.
The initiative supports Qatar National Vision 2030 in achieving social development by drawing inspiration from the noble values and ethics of Qatari society in its interactions with other communities. It raises awareness among students about global humanitarian challenges, fostering empathy for those in need and contributing to impactful humanitarian and development projects.
It provides an opportunity for competition in supporting humanitarian efforts through donation boxes that will be distributed to students to encourage daily contributions. An online donation link for participating schools will also enable academic staff and parents to support the initiative.
It also allows participating school students to organise events and activities that promote awareness of humanitarian work and social responsibility, fostering competition in support of the initiative's goals.
Registration is open to all schools in Qatar until the end of October and so far, 100 schools have registered.
Amer Mohammad AlBesiri, head of the Collection Section at Qatar Charity, stated that the initiative aims to instill values of giving in students and foster their participation in charitable activities. He expressed hope for strong involvement from school students and staff, as well as parents, with donations supporting educational projects for needy students worldwide.
Khalid Alsaadi, programmes and activities specialist at MoEHE, stressed that education is a tool for serving society and achieving sustainable development. He affirmed the ministry's support for the initiative in partnership with Qatar Charity, noting it will equip students with new skills in humanitarian work, boost social awareness, and engage them in community service projects.
The initiative aims to raise QR5mn through donations from participating schools for educational projects in underprivileged regions. The competitive challenge will run from October to April next year, concluding with an award ceremony for the winning schools. Three prizes will be awarded: the first for the school that collects the most donations, the second for the school that organises the best event during the challenge, and the third for the best school in submitting monthly reports and updates.
