The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), in collaboration with the Qatar Boxing Federation organised the first edition of the Qatar Olympic Committee Boxing Tournament – Knock Out 2024 on Friday.
The event received a big turnout from different age groups and public.
The participants showed good technical skills in the boxing competitions, where in Junior’s 46kg, Mohammed al-Marri won the first place and Hamad al-Tamimi finished second, while in 60kg, Abdulaziz Abdulatif came out on top and Mohammed al-Sharqawi settled for second place.
In the Youth division, Majid al-Edris emerged victorious in the 77kg category, followed by Ahmed Waleed in second place. In the 63.5kg class, Yousef al-Saied secured first place, while Faisal al-Nuaimi took second. The 75kg category saw Fras Garmil claim the top spot, with Mishaal Dergam finishing as runner-up. In the +92kg division, Fares Ali captured first place, with Cezar Ehab coming in second.
Abrer Gakooga won gold in the 80kg category, with Yahaya Omar earning second place. In the +92kg division, Mohammed Faras secured the title, while Younes Bin Tamo finished in second place.
At the Award ceremony, the winners of the three categories were crowned by Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid al-Thani, the President of Qatar Boxing Federation; Kazakhstan’s Serik Sapiyev, London 2012 Olympic Champion; and Salah al-Saadi, Assistant Director of the Sports Events Department at the Qatar Olympic Committee,
This event comes in line with the QOC’s message of promoting sports and physical activities among different segments of the society. Notably, the organisation of these events annually will help discovering new talents who will feed the national teams in the local and international competitions.
