Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of donors in Qatar, has inaugurated the ‘Love and Peace Village’ in Ghana's Kissi in the Central Region, a statement said Wednesday. The project includes two schools, each consisting of six classrooms, a three-storey residential building to house students and orphans, a clinic managed by the Ghana Health Service and upgraded to a health centre, a mosque and four new wells. Over 40 houses have been constructed to accommodate healthcare workers and educators, enabling the village's services to be fully staffed and operational. Economic empowerment projects are a central focus of the ‘Love and Peace Village’, which promotes food security and sustainable agricultural practices. The village also offers additional projects, such as tricycle services and a bakery, providing the residents opportunities for income generation and self- reliance. Hasan Owda, director of QC's Office in Ghana, explained that the ‘Love and Peace Village’ serves as a model of sustainable community building, with its comprehensive approach to addressing the educational, economic, religious, and healthcare needs of the beneficiaries. "This initiative supports Ghana’s Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring that areas like Kissi have the tools and resources necessary to thrive," he added. Martin Sumani Baaku, director of Health in Kissi, expressed his gratitude for the healthcare facility, acknowledging QC's efforts in supporting Ghana's health sector. The inauguration of the ‘Love and Peace Village’ comes just a month after QC launched a series of development projects in Ghana. These include a multi-service centre in Inswanu in the Eastern Region, an orphanage and school in the Prampram district, and the Dar Al Salam Model Village.
