HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, participated in the opening session of the 35th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs, which was held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
HE al-Subaie stressed in a speech that holding this session represents a strong push to support the path of environmental co-operation among Arab countries in facing environmental challenges intertwined with various development sectors, noting that unifying efforts and visions towards these challenges constitutes the basic pillar to ensure environmental sustainability in line with international requirements.
He praised the Arab countries' efforts in hosting and organizing international environmental conferences and events, and adopting regional and global initiatives related to this field, stressing the effective role played by these countries in supporting efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development at the regional and global levels.
During the meeting, HE the Minister presented the recent achievements of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change including the launch of the air quality platform, which allows members of society to monitor the level of air quality in various regions of the country according to the highest national and international standards, accurately and easily.
He pointed out that the Ministry launched last May the aerial environmental monitoring system using autogyro aircraft, which feature advanced technological techniques that contribute to enhancing the state's efforts to preserve biodiversity and protect the marine and terrestrial environment.
