As a part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of MES Indian School, an inter-school musical reality show was organised in collaboration with Radio 98.6, over five days.
At the opening on September 19, social media influencer and singer Meghna Surendran was a special guest.
The first round featured performances in three categories: Pallavi - for melody, fast song, and semi-classical renditions.
Out of the 23 participants, 15 were selected to the next round. On the second day, the participants performed melodies, while the third day was dedicated to fast-paced numbers.
After the semi-classical performances, five participants were shortlisted for the grand finale on October 10. Riyas R K, the winner of GCC Best Singer was the special guest for the grand finale.
Acclaimed personalities from the realm of music: Aishwarya Vaidyanatthan, Manikanda Das and Arvind Kumar were the judges.
Vaishnavi from Birla Public School (BPS) was declared the title winner of the MES Golden Tunes Musical Reality Show winning 8gm of gold.
Pooja Santhosh, also from BPS, was the first runner-up winning 4gm of gold while Shravya Woody of Doha Modern Indian School bagged the second runner-up position and won 2gm of gold. Samadrita Basu of DPS Monarch International School and Alvia Saji of MES Indian School secured fourth and fifth positions, respectively, winning mementos and gifts.
Video messages and messages from celebrities Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, M Jayachandran, Madhu Balakrishnan, Sithara Krishna Kumar, Kannur Shareef, and Najim Arshad were conveyed to the participants.
MES governing board officials Kashif Jaleel, Ahmed Isham, Usman A, Ashraf Sharafudheen P T, Fasalau P P, Ansar T K, Aneesh P A, Faisal Mayan, principals of expatriate schools, parents and students were present.
MES principal Dr Hameeda Kadar congratulated the winners and thanked the school management for hosting the event. Cultural co-ordinators Anvar K and Sumitha Abdul Nassar were the general conveners.
Members of the Department of Music Anwar V P, Kavitha G and Mallika Shaji co-ordinated the event. Head girl Sheza Fathima and head prefect Aryan Unnikrishnan gave the introduction for the event.
Steffi Varghese Mathew welcomed and Mohammed Salim proposed a vote of thanks.
