The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) recently held a workshop focusing on the executive action plan for the upcoming phase of the National Health Strategy 2024-2030.
The event was attended by strategy outcome leaders and their deputies.
Dr Salih al-Marri, Assistant Minister for Health Affairs at the Ministry of Public Health and Leader of the Strategy’s First Priority, 'Improved Population Health and Well-being,' opened the workshop by presenting the aspirations of the National Health Strategy 2024-30. He reviewed the strategy's progress and its alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2024-30.
Dr Mariam Abdul Malik, managing director of the Primary Health Care Corporation and leader of the Second Priority, 'Excellence in Service Delivery and Patient Experience,' delivered a briefing on the governance framework of the new strategy, including a comprehensive overview of the National Health Strategy Committee and its reporting structure.
Huda al-Khtheeri, director of the Strategic Planning and Performance and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Public Health and leader of the Third Priority, 'Health System Efficiency and Resilience,' presented the outcomes, initiatives, and projects of the strategy, with each priority leader offering insights on their respective priorities.
The workshop reviewed key areas for implementing the National Health Strategy 2024-30, including the communication plan, strategic alignment, resource allocation, and the next steps for project alignment with the National Planning Council. It featured an interactive session with attendees to ensure inclusivity and to communicate concepts related to processes, workstreams, governance structures, and the responsibilities required to achieve the strategy’s goals.
The National Health Strategy aims to fulfil the health sector’s ambition to build a health-focused society supported by an integrated health system centred on clinical excellence, sustainability and innovation through a range of initiatives designed to achieve the strategy's 15 defined outcomes.
Key outcomes of the National Health Strategy 2024–30 include enhancing public health awareness, empowering patients and caregivers, proactive disease prevention and detection, ensuring comprehensive and integrated health and well-being across all sectors, developing updated and comprehensive care models, pathways, and standards, and achieving excellence in primary, community, secondary, and specialised care.
