The general referendum on the recent constitutional amendments is set to form a historical opportunity for Qatari women to show their true ability to be active partners in building the future of the nation based on equality and the national unity among all the members of the one society.

A number of Qatari women have stressed that this Tuesday will see the start of a new brighter phase of the modern history of Qatar, and their effective participation at the polls on the constitutional amendments is considered an integral part of the national duty and responsibility towards upholding the national values of unity, solidarity, equality and justice among all. They also expect an excellent turnout of women at the polls stations as the new amendments respond to their social and political aspirations as they further cement their successes in these fields.

Shura Council member Sheikha al-Jufairi said that the call for the citizens to take part at these polls affirm the active participation of the people of Qatar in decision making and that they have a true voice in making their future. She said that the wise leadership has always been keen in promoting the role of Qatari women in public life and supported their success that is why all people of Qatar eligible to vote should be united behind their leadership and take actively this national duty.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar National Archive Aisha Khaled al-Saad said that Qatari women have established themselves as active participants in the national progress and part of the decision-making process in various vital fields and positions, which reflects the trust of the wise leadership in women and their important role in the society.

She saw that the general referendum on the recent constitutional amendments is not just casting polls but rather a symbol of national solidarity and enhances the sense of fidelity and citizenship. She said that taking part at this key moment of the history of the nation is an equal right and duty of all women and men of the country equally.

Acting Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the National Archives of Qatar Noura al-Qubaisi said the call for the eligible citizens to take part at the general referendum on the recent constitutional amendments further highlights the prevalent culture of people's participation in the process of decision-making in Qatar adopted by the wise leadership of the country.

It gives people the opportunity to be involved and effective in their future. She said that Qatari women have been enjoying their full rights in all fields, political, social and professional. She said that taking part at the poll further enhances the feeling of belonging to this dear nation and gives the people a chance to express their opinion in such consequential changes.

Media person Eman al-Kaabi pointed out that Qatari women have made various professional achievements in all fields including the media. She said that Qatari women are expected to maintain a very strong presence at the polls on Tuesday, as they are very effective in all fields across the society.

Dr Moza al-Malik, Qatari writer and psychologist, saw the participation of Qatari women at the polls as a pressing need as they are central to the society and play an active role in politics, economy, business and all fields. Their active role is considered essential to maintain social stability and solidarity. She added that taking part at this event in particular is key to establish their participation in enhancing equality and justice among all the members of the society.

Hassa al-Maraghi, director of a primary school, said that women are a main partner in raising the future generations and play an essential role in spreading awareness among the society on the importance of participation in public life, while implanting the spirit of solidarity and citizenship within their children. Accordingly, their participation at the polls is of utmost importance for the whole society.
