The unanimous approval of the recent draft constitutional amendment at the Shura Council has reflected the popular approval, stressing the importance of these amendments on maintaining the unity of the people and achieve equal citizenship rights and duties among them, stressed Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri, Shura Council member.
He pointed out that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has always been keen in all his decisions and directives to achieve the supreme interest of the nation, and enhance the values of justice and equality in rights and duties among all the members of the Qatari society.
His Highness the Amir has always been keen to maintain the role and jurisdiction of the Shura council, whether its members were elected or appointed, and continue the progress of national unity and equal citizenship rights.
He is also keen to enhance the people's participation in this through these polls. Accordingly, Dr al-Marri expects that the participation will be considerably high on Tuesday from all age categories of the eligible voters, in particular among the young people. He noted that the ultimate target of the draft constitutional amendments is to uphold the unity and solidarity of the people of the nation and consider this a top priority.
