Qatar took part in the 85th Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE 2024) Conference in Ottawa. HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi chaired Qatar's delegation to the conference from November 3-6.
Addressing the conference, HE al-Nuaimi called for building smart, innovative and sustainable partnerships in the field of international education co-operation that benefit all concerned parties, especially enhancing student exchange programs and supporting joint research projects, which contributes to achieving global education goals in light of the challenges and concerns facing the world.
He added that there is no way to do this except by working with universities, educational and research institutions and partners from all over the world to achieve the aspirations of young people and prepare them to lead the future. He detailed Qatar's development of education and its achievements, stressing that the country's wise leadership has paid great attention to investing in education because it is the cornerstone of sustainable development and an effective means of enabling future generations to face global challenges.
He added that Qatar's education system has remarkably developed in the areas of digital transformation and artificial intelligence technologies, and that international education has become an integral part of the unique academic experience of the State of Qatar since the launch of its National Vision 2030 in 2008, which has consolidated Qatar's position as an advanced country capable of achieving sustainable development and providing economic prosperity for its people.
HE al-Nuaimi also highlighted the initiatives and projects launched by the State of Qatar since the launch of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, which include introducing modern educational methodologies and providing diverse educational opportunities that meet students trends and inclinations, and feed the labour market with the required skills, and launching the MoEHE strategy 2024-2030, under the slogan "Igniting the Flame of Learning" to develop an integrated educational system that prepares for a successful professional life, enhances values, ethics and the spirit of co-operation, stimulates critical thinking, and contributes to preparing a distinguished generation capable of the 21st century skills.
HE al-Nuaimi praised the conference as a platform that brought together world experts to discuss issues related to international student education, support them and enable them to succeed. He also called for rethinking the management of international education and directing it in a way that ensures that students are prepared to lead the future.
The CBIE 2024 gathered over 1,300 participants from 50 countries and over 60 exhibitors who engaged in constructive 75 discussion sessions to exchange ideas on innovation, reorganization, and future of international education. The discussions included the management of scholarships, research and information services, and training and professional development programs for international teachers, based on the importance of the role of international education as the best means to enhance understanding between peoples, and develop sustainable political, cultural, and economic ties among countries.
