Shura Council Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim has emphasised the importance of enhancing parliamentary co-operation among Gulf countries, noting that the current regional and international situations necessitate unifying the stances of the GCC countries to address the growing challenges facing the region.

In a statement upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi, leading the Council's delegation to participate in the 18th regular meeting of Shura Speakers, representatives, national and Ummah councils in the GCC countries, scheduled for Tuesday, he stressed that parliamentary co-operation should not only strengthen relations among legislative bodies but also support political and security stability in the region, enhancing collective and coordinated crisis response capabilities.

HE al-Ghanim noted that this regular meeting provides a valuable opportunity for consultation and exchanging views on issues of security, development, and the economy, contributing to sustainability and progress across various sectors serving the interests of the people of the GCC countries.

He highlighted the deep fraternal bonds among the GCC states and expressed his hope that this meeting would strengthen co-operation and integration to meet the aspirations of the GCC peoples for greater progress and prosperity.

The meeting is set to discuss several topics related to solidifying parliamentary co-operation, joint Gulf efforts, and enhancing parliamentary relations with regional and international parliamentary bodies. Additionally, it will address ways to preserve Gulf identity amid various challenges and changes.
