Qatar Charity (QC) with the support of donors in the country, has been running winter relief campaigns for internally displaced persons (IDPs), vulnerable families, and the families of orphans in Yemen.

Temperatures drop significantly, especially in the mountainous and northern regions, adding to the suffering of people already impacted by the ongoing conflict for over eight years, as well as those affected by floods, a statement said on Tuesday.

Projects implemented over the past two years include the distribution of shelter kits and winter clothing in several governorates, benefitting more than 11,300 people (1,616 families).

The shelter kits, sufficient for a family of seven, included blankets, mattresses, mats, stoves, solar lamps, and kitchen utensils. The winter kits included blankets, mats, winter clothing, and other essential items.

The mother of orphan Nayef al-Qulaysi, 10, thanked donors for providing winter clothes to protect her children from the cold. Aziz Saleh Nasher, grandfather of two orphans, shared his grandchildren's joy at receiving the clothes that brought them warmth, happiness and also expressed his gratitude.
