In line with the State of Qatar's ongoing efforts to support the Republic of Namibia and its people, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) announced that a shipment containing 58,000 food baskets has arrived via a naval vessel, weighing 1,745 tons. The shipment was received by HE Governor of Erongo Region Neville Andre Itope.
The food baskets will be sent to areas most impacted by desertification in Namibia to meet urgent food needs, QFFD said.
With the arrival of this vessel, the total number of food baskets sent to the Republic of Namibia to combat desertification, via both air and sea, has now reached 63,500, weighing approximately 1,925 tons.
The shipment, which complements the State of Qatar's prior airlift efforts over the past months to assist the Republic of Namibia, totals to 180 tons, equivalent to 5,500 food baskets.
