The winter campaigns of Qatar Charity (QC), supported by the generous people of Qatar, help ease the suffering of millions of internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and vulnerable families, a statement said Monday.

A few days ago, coinciding with the approach of winter, QC launched the “How Long” campaign for the 2024-25 season.

The QC also thanked the donors to the “One Heart” campaign implemented in the 2023-24 winter, benefiting more than 7.5mn people, including IDPs, refugees, and the most vulnerable families, across 14 countries, as well as workers within Qatar.

The total cost of the assistance amounted to about QR188mn, exceeding the initial targets for both the project costs and the number of beneficiaries.

The contributions helped alleviate suffering from the harsh cold, especially in crisis-hit areas such as Gaza, Palestine, northern Syria, and Yemen, as well as in the coldest regions worldwide.

The assistance included food packages, winter clothing, blankets, heaters, fuel, tents, house rents, maintenance of homes and caravans, first aid kits, personal hygiene kits, health services, water tanks, and other support.

Due to the ongoing crisis in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, it received the largest share of the campaign's aid, totaling QR68mn, benefiting more than 884,000 people.

Additionally, aid was provided to IDPs in northern Syria and Syrian refugees in Turkiye exceeded QR48mn, reaching nearly 4.5mn people.

The assistance allocated to Yemen through the same campaign exceeded QR12mn, benefiting more than 107,000 individuals.

Within Qatar, approximately 4,500 workers benefited from the campaign’s aid, which included winter kits, food packages, medical assistance, and awareness activities organised through a medical camp, the statement added.
