The State of Qatar chaired the 102nd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on Monday.
The meeting was presided over by HE Media Adviser in the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) and Chair of Permanent Committee for Arab Media Abdul Rahman bin Nasser Al Obaidan. The meeting recommended strengthening joint Arab media work, selecting the State of Kuwait as the capital of Arab media and culture 2025, and providing media support to Palestine and Lebanon.
The State of Qatar participated in the 102nd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media with a delegation headed by Acting Head of the international cooperation office at QMC Sheikh Ahmed bin Thani Al-Thani.
Assistant Secretary General and Supervisor of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi said that the organizational efforts to ensure the success of the 102nd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media come within the framework of enhancing joint Arab action in the media field, which is a fundamental pillar in supporting the vitality of societies and consolidating the foundations of national cohesion.
He emphasized that the media represents an indispensable tool in achieving development and good governance, strengthening the pillars of the law, as well as spreading the values of peace, tolerance, and coexistence, rejecting extremism and exclusion, while appreciating the diversity and richness of societal values in a spirit of openness and innovation.
He pointed out that the Arab League has recently been keen to develop the Arab media system through innovative approaches and ambitious projects that respond to current challenges.
The 20th session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers was held earlier today, where the recommendations of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media were approved.
