HE the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri affirmed that Qatar National Day is a significant occasion to reflect on the achievements of the nation across all fields, which have elevated its regional and international standing. These accomplishments are credited to the wise policies and visionary leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the dedication of the country's loyal citizens, and the contributions of residents in Qatar.In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani. He prayed for continued prosperity, stability, and progress for Qatar year after year.HE the Minister highlighted the Ministry of Labour's numerous achievements in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in qualifying and developing the skills of the national workforce and increasing their participation in private sector institutions. He noted that, as part of efforts to develop and prepare the national workforce and boost their employment in the private sector, His Highness the Amir issued the Nationalisation Law for Private Sector Jobs, marking a significant step forward in enhancing national workforce participation rates in the private sector. Currently, nationals represent 17% of the private sector workforce, with the National Strategy for an Effective and Highly Productive Workforce 2024-2030 aiming to raise this percentage to 20% by 2030.HE the Minister also revealed that the Ministry of Labour's efforts have resulted in the employment of 6,000 Qatari men and women in the private sector over the past three years.He added that the ministry is currently working on developing a comprehensive Nationalisation plan for private sector jobs in collaboration with private sector institutions. The ministry has conducted numerous consultations and workshops with private sector representatives to devise an effective and actionable plan that aligns with national objectives.Furthermore, the minister noted the activation of sectoral councils, which coordinate Nationalisation efforts with the private sector, ensuring continuity in dialogue, enhanced communication, and the building of effective partnerships. These councils align sectoral strategies between senior Ministry officials and private sector institutions and companies.Regarding expatriate workers, HE Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri emphasised that the ministry aims to attract highly skilled expatriates, raising their share from 20% to 24% of the total expatriate workforce by 2030. He also highlighted the ministry's digital transformation efforts over the past three years to enhance the work environment by leveraging artificial intelligence to collect and analyse labour market data. These efforts include developing a Labour Market Information System, which will aid in policy formulation, development, monitoring, and data analysis.He concluded by stating that as part of the Third National Development Strategy, the ministry will implement 16 initiatives and 55 projects targeting national workforce development, expatriate workforce enhancement, and private and semi-private sector advancement.
