The Ministry of Municipality, in cooperation with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), opened Tuesday Al Thameed and Al Sudan parks in the Al Rayyan area, in conjunction with the National Day celebrations, in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani and Director General of Al Rayyan Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber.
This comes within the framework of the ministry's continuous efforts to provide green spaces that meet the needs of the residents of the neighborhoods, which contributes to enhancing the well-being of society and improving the quality of life.

The Director of the Public Parks Department Eng. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sada said that the opening of the two parks is part of the ongoing efforts to develop the parks and gardens system in the country, in line with the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030, noting that the ministry focuses on establishing parks in the neighborhoods areas with the aim of increasing green spaces and providing multiple recreational facilities that suit the privacy of those areas.

He added that the ministry is working on implementing new projects with international specifications during the coming period to enhance sustainable development and improve the urban environment, noting that the number of public parks in Qatar has reached 149 parks and recreational areas, including 120 public gardens, 25 plazas and four corniches.

Al Thameed Park extends over a total area of 15,747 square meters, of which 9,892 square meters are open green spaces, and includes 438 meters of pedestrian paths, 363 meters of bicycle paths, and 343 meters of jogging paths. It also contains a 454 square meter children's play area, and fitness facilities, in addition to 212 trees and 1054 shrubs as a natural fence, with the provision of 29 parking spaces and 135 lighting units.

As for Sudan Park, it extends over a total area of 2,303 square meters, of which 1,471 square meters are green spaces, and includes a 164-meter-long pedestrian path, a 258-square-meter children's play area, in addition to 39 trees and 107 square meters of shrubs as a natural fence, with the provision of 12 parking spaces and 57 lighting units.

Through these projects, the Ministry of Municipality affirms its commitment to providing a healthy and safe urban environment and enhancing the role of parks as recreational places that take into account the needs of all segments of society, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
