HE the Cabinet Secretary-General Hamad bin Ahmed al-Muhannadi has emphasised that the commemoration of the Qatar National Day (QND) each year holds a special significance and new dimension, in light of the multiple achievements and persistent successes the country is making in all fields, under the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and through collaboration, dedication, and contributions of the nation’s citizens, along with their united support for their wise leadership.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE al-Muhannadi highlighted that the celebration of QND this year comes following the historic referendum on the 2024 constitutional amendments to the Permanent Constitution of Qatar, embodying profound meanings and facts that evidently expressed the insightful vision of His Highness the Amir, along with the awareness bequeathed to the people of Qatar, in addition to their belief, commitment and adherence to national unity, as well as their steadfast determination to actively participate in civic matters and engage positively with the nation’s issues and national responsibilities.He congratulated the wise leadership on QND, which boastfully commemorates the legacies of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, who, through his consistent sacrifices, instilled the profound meanings of patriotism, the sense of responsibility and enduring preparation in this country, underscoring the consciences of its loyal people in defence of the nation and sacrifice for its sake, in addition to adhering to its unity and sovereignty, as well as dedication to its advancement.
The modern State of Qatar rose from this inveterate legacy and glory as well as the shining chapters of history whose towering structure was built upon solid foundations and unwavering pillars, leading to the esteemed position it now holds, HE al-Muhannadi stressed, emphasising that this has been demonstrated in the remarkable achievements realised within an extraordinary brief span of time, across all fields, emphasising the positive, proactive, and impactful role it plays on both regional and global arenas.
He highlighted that the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers accomplished numerous functions under its purview, alongside its core functions related to the cabinet meetings and the implementation of its decisions, including the review of bills and other legislative tools.
He indicated that during the tenure of Qatar as chair of the previous session of the Supreme Council of Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers presided over the ministerial committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of decisions related to joint action among the GCC states as well as the standing committee of officials of legislative affairs departments of the GCC states.
By presiding over these two committees, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers made a profound contribution to following up on the implementation of the decisions relevant to the joint Gulf action, as well as the legislative matters related to the GCC states and issued the “Internal Achievements of the State” book which is published annually, and includes the interagency institutions accomplishments, along with their future plans.
He emphasised that QND serves as a momentous occasion during which the people of Qatar reflect upon the glorious achievements of their past, drawing inspiration from the noble values, high morals, and esteemed principles exemplified by their forebears.
