Developing countries need to adopt common vision on Major global economy issues : Arab League

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said on Thursday the developing and Global South countries need a common vision on key global economy issues.Addressing the 11th summit of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation in Cairo, Aboul Gheit added that developing countries need integrated policies to overcome the likes of climate change, energy prices, energy transition, AI impacts on economic growth and poverty.He highlighted the Arab League's readiness to exchange expertise and ideas with the developing nations to face the global economy transformations amid geopolitical uncertainty and mounting race between major powers that push the world into trade wars.Today's events confirm that close coordination and interdependence between countries with similar capabilities and aspirations have become a duty to formulate practical policies that keep pace with the requirements of the current era and help achieve the required developmental progress and get out of the tunnel of current crises, he said.Aboul Gheit hailed the D-8 group as a thrilling model for cooperation among developing countries that share economic and social challenges.He voiced hopes the group would develop mechanisms for joint development work among its members and with Arab countries.
