Registration for the 16th edition of Qatar International Falconry and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025) will conclude Thursday.
The festival, held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani and supported by the Sports and Social Activities Support Fund (Daam), is scheduled to take place from January 1 to February 1, 2025, at Sabkha Marmi in Sealine Area.
Online registration for the “Daw” and “Tal’a” competitions closed Wednesday, at 11pm. The organising committee will announce registration dates for the Mazayen (beauty contest) and Young Falconer competitions at a later time.
Meanwhile, the festival’s registration process went on smoothly on its fourth day, with significant turnout from Qataris and participants from the GCC countries. Registration for the "Hudud Al-Tahaddi" (Challenge) competition and the second day of registrations for "Daw" and "Tal’a" categories took place at the headquarters of Al Gannas Qatari Society at Katara Cultural Village. The inspection committee ensured that all falcons met the specific criteria for their respective categories.
Saad al-Mohannadi, member of the inspection committee, highlighted the successful use of the electronic registration system. He pointed out the thorough process requiring participants to register online, present their falcons for inspection, install identification rings, and pay the registration fees. The electronic ring, a microchip installed on each falcon, is read using an authorized device by Al Gannas Society, ensuring precise identification of falcons during the competitions.
Accordingly participants from Qatar and the GCC countries praised the festival's unique appeal and commended Al Gannas Society and sponsors for their efforts.
Marmi 2025 promises to celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of falconry, fostering a deeper connection to this treasured sport for participants and spectators alike.
