Indian community in Qatar paid tributes to the former prime minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh who passed away on December 26.

Indian ambassador Vipul attended the event held at Indian Cultural Centre and a number of prominent community leaders took part in the meeting. Ambassador Vipul offered floral tributes to the departed leader and spoke on the occasion. Several other community leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Dr Singh, the 13th prime minister of India, served the country for two consecutive terms as prime minister from 2004 to 2014. He is also credited for reshaping the Indian economy and leading the country to a great economic power when he served as the finance minister of the country from 1991 to 1996. He is also the fourth longest serving prime minister of India.
